Sub-processors and outside services
Draft for legal review. This list has been written for MTE Solutions Ltd's solicitor to review. Text marked [TO CONFIRM] is still to be settled. We will update this page before adding a new sub-processor.
Two kinds of outside party receive data from Strata Scope. Sub-processors handle your data for us, under contract. Public services answer a question we ask them, about a place, and receive the place, not your files or your name.
1Sub-processors
| Who | What for | What they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic, PBC | The AI model that reads logs, laboratory PDFs and core box boards (how we use AI) | The file being read, sent from our server | United States |
| [TO CONFIRM: hosting provider] | Runs the tool and stores accounts and job records | Everything held in the tool | [TO CONFIRM: region] |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | DNS for the domain, and serving this website | Visitors' IP addresses and requests, in its network logs | Global network [TO CONFIRM: whether the tool is served through it too] |
| [TO CONFIRM: email provider, not yet chosen] | Delivering access codes | Your email address and the access message | [TO CONFIRM] |
2Public services
| Who | What for | What they receive | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| British Geological Survey (BGS), including the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland layers it hosts | The desk study: published geology and borehole records around the site | A box around the site and the positions of the located holes, as latitude and longitude | Once, when a job with located holes and no desk study is opened; again only if you ask for a fresh one |
| OpenStreetMap Foundation (map tiles) | The background map on the site plan | Which map tiles are needed, which shows the area being viewed. Tiles are fetched by our server and shared between users, so your browser does not contact OpenStreetMap. | When a map area is first viewed |
| OpenStreetMap Foundation (Nominatim place names) | The site-setting sentence in the factual report | The centre of the investigation, as latitude and longitude | Only when you ask for the site setting to be looked up |
| what3words | Three-word addresses for drillers to navigate to holes | Hole positions, as latitude and longitude | Only if switched on for the service [TO CONFIRM: on or off on the hosted service] |
The AGS conformance check runs on our own server; no AGS file is sent to any outside validator.
3Links you choose to open
The driller's navigation links open a hole's position in Google Maps, Apple Maps or what3words. If you follow one, your browser sends that position to the service you chose, under that service's own privacy terms.
4Changes
We update this page, and its date, before a new sub-processor starts receiving data. Customers who want to be told directly can ask at mark@MTE-hq.co.uk.
